The history of Kidde Global Solutions is the history of modern fire protection. Founded before 1917 as Kidde Fire Protection, the company was born with a purpose that remains central to this day: to develop technologies capable of saving lives and protecting assets.
A journey built on innovation
In 1917, Kidde introduced the carbon dioxide extinguisher - a technical breakthrough that redefined industry standards and established the company as a global benchmark in fire suppression. In the following decades, between the 1920s and 1970s, a continuous cycle of expansion and technological development consolidated the brand's presence in industrial, commercial, and residential markets around the world.
In the mid-2000s, integration into the portfolio of United Technologies Corporation (UTC) broadened access to world-class engineering resources and accelerated the development of increasingly sophisticated solutions. In 2019 and 2020, the transition to Carrier Global Corporation reinforced the commitment to innovation applied to medium- and high-complexity environments, positioning Kidde within a global ecosystem of technologies for efficiency and safety. In 2024, the investment fund Lone Star acquired from Carrier the fire safety business division, forming the company known today as Kidde Global Solutions.

In 2026, this journey gained new expression with the evolution of the KGS brand: an identity that reflects maturity, ambition, and the clarity of those who know exactly where they are going.
